Baptistery. A separate room or alcove, usually opening off the nave, where the font is, and where baptism is administered. In practice, they are few and far between in Suffolk, although some fonts were moved into the space below the tower in the 19th century to create one, as at Hengrave. The most spectacular purpose-built baptistery in Suffolk is at Bungay St Edmund.
